With great regret, I announce that this will be my last post at Blogger until further notice. I have decided, due to time constraints and other issues, to focus my efforts exclusively on other sites such as Facebook and Myspace to provide daily updates on the circus / soap opera / pathetic excuse of a reality show that is my life.
It's been fun, though - à la prochaine.

It's time
Hello, out there...it's been too long. I've practically forgotten that I even still had this out there, but I have news to pass along. I know I have discussed timing of new career opportunities in the past. But, now I have decided that a move needs to be made.
For some time now, I have been exploring what is out there and waiting to see what opportunities lie out there for someone like me who wants to be all they can be. In my current work situation, I can't help but feel I'm being worked to a point of extreme exhaustion, to out it mildly. But, over the Christmas break and recently, given information that has come to me, I have decided once and for all that something needs to happen.
As of today, I announce that I am putting my trust in the Creator to lead me to a new and exciting opportunity for August 2009. I have decided to start testing the free-agent market to try to land anything from a Library Clerk position to a School Administrator job, somewhere else for the new school year. Although I have enjoyed the last two years in my current assignment, I feel it's time for a change, in more ways than one.
Why? To list them here could possibly put me in the position of being cited for a Code of Ethics violation. But, know this: the kids at my schools have truly been my saving grace. They helped me to realize that, more than ever, I made the right choice to become an educator. I have not regretted this choice to this day and I hope I never do.
So I ask to any prospective employer out there: if you're looking for someone who is willing to go all out for their students, the school, and the community they serve, here I am. I ask for the chance to do my best for you and your team, and for all stakeholders in your community. I am very passionate about what I do and I will promise you that I give you nothing but my best effort at all times. You will find me very sincere and open to doing anything that benefits the students entrusted to my care and class work, short of not being able to assist you in anything that you need done.
All I ask is for the chance to serve...our children.

Could we be on the move again?
Tomorrow, I return home for a vacation that I badly need. I have had what is, by all accounts, an interesting and very good year with my new employer, but a break is good. Especially with a health condition that I have recently discivered in my life, any chance to get away from everything and take time to myself is a good idea.
I have discovered, unbeknownst to me, that I now have high blod pressure concerns. It was a fluke, really: I tried out one of those in-the-store blood pressure meters during my course last week in Manitoba and I found that my reading falls within the lower level of the high blood pressure range. I need to see my doctor ASAP. :(
This does give me reason to think about something else. When I was in Riding Mountain last week, I received what I can best describe as four "expressions of interest" for 2009. Well, five if you count my current school. But the question I need to ask tonight is this: when is it a good time to change direction in life? I always want to do what's best for everyone concerned, especially my team and my students. Not to mention myself.
I now, however, have my Vice Principal ticket and it wil surely open some doors for me. At the moment, if indeed I do leave NNOC after this year, my possible destinations are Winnipeg, Brandon, Dauphin and Minnedosa in Manitoba. However, Thunder Bay, Halifax, and St. John's have also opened up.
Who knows...what do you think?

I'm BACK!!!
There has been, as you may have noticed, a change in my blog. Simply put, someone out there felt I was breaking employment law with my old blog at david-alexander.blogspot.com and so I am starting fresh with the notion that you may try to knock me down, but you can't knock me out. As a result, while my old blog is now a thing of the past, this new blog is me - here and now.
So why the new title? I go around from town to town, doing whatever I can to help young people be all they can be. I thought of the classic TV Series "The Littlest Hobo" when I came up with the name: maybe tomorrow I'll want to settle down, but until tomorrow, the whole world is my home. Every stop I make, I make a new friend, but I travel light, don't pack a lot, and then I'm gone again. But I make sure that my students - and the stakeholders I serve - are equipped with all possible tools to be successful in The Game Of Life, when the time comes for me to move on. Knowing when to raise a hand, to call a bluff, and so much more.
While I will continue to use Facebook for daily updates, this site will be devoted once again to deeper reflections and discussion topics. This is one of the reasons why I started my first blog in 2003.
It's back to the basics.
